Welcome to Devoted to the Magic! My name is Kellie. I have been to Disney World more than a dozen times throughout my adult life, but my first trip was over 30 years ago when I went with a friend's family. I was only about 10 years old, but I will never forget my first ride on Space Mountain. I was hooked! I think we rode it 3 times! With no Fastpasses back then, the wait must have been very long, but we didn't care. I also remember thinking how cool Epcot was back then, too. I was so impressed with the "World of Motion", which has since been replaced with Test Track. After that trip, I got to go back when I was in high school and then a few more times after that, but my love affair for Disney World truly began back in 2005. That year I brought my 18-month-old daughter, 8-year-old son, and my Mom to WDW while my Navy hubby was deployed overseas. I decided a little vacation was just what we needed to take our minds off of Daddy's absence. We had a blast! When we returned home, I couldn't wait to go back!
It was during that first trip with my mom and kids back in 2005 that I really tried to plan everything out. The internet hadn't quite been bombarded with all of the Disney blogs and sites that are out there today. I basically watched the free vacation planning DVD and created a few word documents to help keep us organized. I was new to the concept of Disney Planning, but all in all, we had a really great time! I learned a lot planning that first trip. I made mistakes here and there, but when you have a toddler in tow, you have to remain flexible.
